Digital ratings system helps improve safety, accessibility in home care settings

Lack of accessibility in the home, such as front entrance stairs, hallways that are too narrow for wheelchairs or walkers and inaccessible bathrooms, can pose potential safety risks for seniors and the disabled and challenges for home care workers.
Carolyn Sithong, the founder and CEO of Home for Life Design, hopes to change that. Her Home for Life Design Accessibility Ratings, a home assessment software platform, provides standardized scores to assess the accessibility and safety of a home. It gives home care providers and clinicians an effective tool to determine whether a home environment is safe and accessible for the clients they serve.
