" I enjoy using Home for Life in my course because it provides students the opportunity to utilize a practical home safety assessment that is engaging and reflective of real world occupational therapy practice. In addition to being online and easy to navigate, Home for Life is client-centered which allows students to focus on the unique needs and priorities of each client.

Using Home for Life builds students’ confidence in using an occupational therapy lens to evaluate barriers to safety and performance and their clinical reasoning to select and justify solutions for those barriers. Home for Life is consistently one of my (and my students) favorite activities to build skills in home safety and assessment. "

" We use Home for Life Design for case-based assignments in class, as well as for service-learning opportunities with community dwelling older adults in the local community. The program helps students thoroughly problem solve through a client's needs, understand the endless possibilities that are available regarding home modifications and begin to develop their documentation skills as an occupational therapist.

Students always rave about the program and assignments/opportunities associated with it. I have incorporated the program into my courses for the past several years, and will definitely continue to do so! "

" For our HUD Home Mod projects, I don't know how we would survive without the Home for Life software…Every single person on the team uses it or goes to see it [in action]. It's good for adding information in from start to finish and everything in between. It's so user-friendly. I always tell people “if I can use it, you can” because I'm not good with any type of new technology. It meets all of our needs in every aspect with each HUD Home Mod recipient. We can track client progress whenever they need it.

I'm just so glad and grateful for this partnership because it allows us to bring OT students into research to disseminate our home assessments for this project. "

As the instructor, I can see the students apply the course concepts and content, and critically think to provide solutions in the real-world setting.

Students consistently report how useful and practical the assignment is using the Home for Life software…The software allows the students to produce a professional and comprehensive report. ”
